DAVID AND ANNIE MALCOLM, PHILANTHROPISTS
David and Annie Malcolm established the David Malcolm Family Trust as a donor-advised fund at The San Diego Foundation in 2013. Since then, the Malcolms have provided grants to a wide range of community organizations. Two particular areas of focus of their philanthropy are youth and education and homelessness.
In 2021, they made a significant gift to the San Diego Foundation’s Community Scholars Initiative and separately established the David Malcolm Scholarship. The latter is designed to help college students who have overcome adversity to pursue their educational goals and can serve as inspirations to other youth.
David has served on numerous boards of directors of for-profit and nonprofit organizations, notably including local homeless services organizations. He spent 32 years on the Board of the St. Vincent de Paul Management, an arm of Father Joe’s Villages, four of those as chair. In 2024, he and Annie joined the newly formed Board of Trustees of the San Diego Rescue Mission.
